Privacy

Robert Hawkins, trading as The Unknown Archive, operates this website in Tennessee, United States. Contact: jakeh1703@gmail.com.

What the service processes

When you create an account, we store your chosen email address, a randomly generated account identifier, a salted password hash and a hashed recovery code. Your password is not stored as readable text. Account cookies contain random session tokens; the server stores their hashes and expiry. Short-lived hashed identifiers limit sign-in attempts.

Email addresses are used as account names and passed to Stripe for checkout. When email delivery is enabled, Resend delivers requested password-reset and email-confirmation links to your chosen email address. Those links contain random, single-use tokens that expire after 30 minutes. We store their hashes and expiry, not readable passwords. Recovery codes are an optional backup. During pre-launch, account registration remains unavailable until email delivery is connected. Owner administration uses the hosting platform’s separate owner sign-in.

When checkout is enabled, we store the purchased case, price, currency, purchase date, terms version, Stripe checkout and payment references, and payment/access status. Stripe processes card details on its hosted checkout; we do not store card numbers, card security codes or bank details in the case website. Your email address is passed to Stripe for checkout.

Hosting services process ordinary request and security information, such as IP address, browser information and logs, to deliver and protect the website. If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you send.

Local saves

Case progress and preferences are stored in your browser on your device. Save files you export are downloaded to your device. Clearing local storage may remove progress. The current service does not synchronize investigation progress between devices.

Use and sharing

We use this information to deliver purchases, prevent unauthorized access, reconcile payment notifications, respond to support, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Service providers include the Sites hosting platform, Cloudflare infrastructure, Stripe payments, and the email provider used for support. They may process information in the United States and other countries under their own terms and privacy notices.

We have not added advertising pixels, audience analytics, a mailing list or a public reviews feature. We do not sell customer information.

Retention and requests

Purchase and access records are retained while needed to provide access and resolve payment, accounting or legal issues. Support messages are retained while needed to resolve the request and related issues. You can ask what account information we hold, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern by emailing support. Some transaction records may need to be retained; deleting an account association can affect access, which we will explain before acting.

Cookies and security

The hosting and authentication services may use necessary cookies or similar technology for sign-in and security. Purchase access is checked on the server. No service can guarantee absolute security; avoid sharing account credentials or sending payment card details to support.

Children and updates

This mature-themed service is not directed to children under 13. Contact support if you believe a child has supplied personal information. We will update this notice when the service's data practices change.
